I’ve recently been thinking about how to quieten my mind and process my thinking about what’s happening in the wider world.

How do I wrap my head around the information, politics and world news ,thats flying directly into my eyeballs like a swarm of angry hornets?

For me it always comes back to drawing and writing offline in a physical notebook, away from the glare of the screen,

Whenever I have some time reflecting on my feelings and writing and doodling about it, I enjoy all of these benefits….

  • I feel like I’m staging my own mini rebellion against billionaire tech wankerpreneurs and terrifying politicians
  • There are no algorithms hacking my biological responses with likes and comments to keep me on a platform and pulling my strings. It’s just me.
  • No one’s profiting apart from me.
  •  I can think my own thoughts and give them to the page without thinking of how they are being received.
  •  I get to use my critical thinking muscles ,ask questions and be curious, not react- allow things to sink in, not accept things at face value.which then kind of stays with me when I’m bimbling around online.

It feels protective and like I said a bit rebellious, which I think right now is something we all need to cultivate.

If you do nothing else this month make sure you stage your own mini doodle rebellion, ideally take an hour and a lovely beverage and get stuck into it.

If you’re feeling some blank page pressure then make sure you start off with these doodle prompts. Pick one that suits how you’re feeling…..

Need some escapism, go for the 1st one, feeling a bit wound up? Try number 2.

Let me know how it goes.

Doodle challenge

  • Grab a brew
  •  set a timer for 20 minutes
  • You know how they say money doesn’t grow on trees? What if it did? What else would grow in a garden full of money trees? Spend 20 minutes designing your fantasy garden and then it that inspires you to write some stuff down, do that as well.
  • Alternatively consider for a moment what really winds you up about modern life or society? Doodle it. If that feels overwhelming, keep it simple a bit like I’ve done in my doodle in response to Mark Zuckerbergs ramblings on masculine energy and scrapping DEI programmes. Doodle it down and let the irritation leave your body, feel your mind relax, ahhhhhhh see, that’s better isn’t it?

Remember rebels always don’t always smoke and ride motorbikes ,

sometimes they wear cardigans and have an array of lovely stationery.

Let me know if you have a go,

Take care and remember to keep your pencils sharp,

You can’t change the world with a blunt nib.
