The things that make us laugh are often born from discomfort and awkwardness and the oddness of being a human walking around.

Getting caught in a zipper,

Getting it wrong,

Not loving the you’re gonna love it gift,

Smiling too long,

Constipation,

Sitting on a cactus,

When it’s branded as fun before you get to decide for yourself,

Trimming your toenails to shirt,

When it’s not funny,

low crotch tights,

responding 2 weeks later,

And on and on, there’s so many things you could add to this list.

Can you imagine if everything in the future was totally easy , non awkward and comfortable? I don’t think there would be any comedy. What would stand up comedians talk about?

But I gotta say discomfort is interesting from a creativity point of view.

Like It’s fine to not to want to go charging up a mountain on the back of an antelope filming a documentary for red bull.

I’m all about physical comfort when I’m creating.

When I’m trying to make things I wear comfy clothes, I make sure my body feels as relaxed as it can, I go to the loo, I make sure I’ve got a drink, all that stuff BUT mentally to get exploring and trying new things my brain needs a bit of feeling uncomfortable And the best way I find to do this is to do stuff I’m not that good at or a beginner in.

Approaching things as a beginner means I have to sit with my impatience and low frustration tolerance, (yuk) and give up cos I’m not an expert in 5 minutes tendencies.

BORING.

I’m always rewarded when I push through though (annoyingly).

✏️✏️✏️Doodle Prompt

What makes you uncomfortable ? Pick one thing, Doodle it.

Can be a tiny thing or a big thing.( add labels if you want)

Notice how thinking about it as you doodle makes you feel.

Notice how the end doodle makes you feel- I bet there’s some comedy there to be found.
